Dance Thing Sponsors!

Our sponsors listed below contribute to the overall success and continuation of Dance Thing, the Juniors, and other activities that keep the program functioning at a minimal "out of own pocket" cost. Without the support of the groups below, many of the opportunities given to Dance Thing would not only be not possible, but not conceivable as well.

Indy Swing Dance Club sponsored Indy Classic 2006, 2007, 2008
Mike Topel -- sponsored passes for MadMAC 2006
Doug Rousar of Spotlight and Performing Arts -- sponsored a fundraiser in December 2007, then also sponsored the DTJs and their parents to Milwaukee for his New Year Eve event 2007/08 and has offered the same for January 2009

Jim Becker of X Dance -- Sponsored the DTJs to Chicago Classic 2008 and has again offered the same for March 2009

John Lindo sponsored the DTJ's to "Meet Me In St. Louis" 2008
Eric B. Jacobson of Dance Manhattan -- recently sponsored a fundraising weekend to help cover Meet Me In St. Louis 2008 competition fees and hopes to solicit passes for an eastern event in the future
Jason Miklic, Sophy Kdep, Doug Rousar, Eric Jacobson, John Lindo, Tim Auclair, Mike Topel, Laura Christopherson, Terry Roseborough, Jeanne DeGeyter, to name just a few, have all contributed free lessons, coaching sessions and pro-ams (without requirement of private lesson fees)
Many others groups and individuals have helped in smaller ways/donations (but no less important), such as Dance Ala Carte, Dave's Foto, Natural Rhythmz Ent., St. Louis Rebels, St. Louis Ballroom Club, MJ Studios, Diane Wehrmann, Eleesa Perez, Harrell Dentistry, Linda Brown Ballroom, Teri DeSmet, Steve Detter, Jamie Wehrung, Laura Rutherford, Judith Meredith, LPC

Meet Me In St. Louis 2008 News:

Just so you know … I was able to secure the Sept 1 deadline for the discounted prices … However, you MUST use one of the forms that I will have available in my studio.  Everyone else is only getting the special discounts until August 1st.

Any of you that wish to send to folks out of state (such as you, Terry Leap) please think ahead as to how many forms you'll need so I keep enough copies aside for you.

All Inclusive Event Pass
Rebel Member = $80.00 eighty
Non-Rebel Member = $90 ninety

Spectator Passes $10 per day (no matter whether Rebel Members or not) -- no participation in social dancing, competitions or workshops allowed

Day Passes (includes workshops and competitions for that particular day) $50 fifty … no matter whether Rebel member or not  (might be cheaper to go with the event pass if you want to watch comps on more than one day)

Dance Thing Juniors are sponsored by John Lindo this year … you will be required to be in good standing, promissory notes and liability waiver signed, and a full-fledged member of the program by August 9th.  You also must use the form I am providing.  (Core Members:  We will be attaching payment for pro-am competitions and Jack & Jill comps to your registrations.)  Please understand that to remain fair to the core group who have worked so hard and who will be debuting Eric Jacobson's choreography at the event, Dance Thing Junior membership is FROZEN with the last addition of those that are starting classes on July 9th and 16th.  July's additional members will be granted event passes but it is not recommended that you compete at this event.  Do not request others to be added to the program benefits until AFTER Meet Me In St. Louis 2008.

As you all may or may not remember, Dance Thing started the "We Need Leaders" Contest in January and it runs until August 2008.

Seven gentlemen signed up, CHOSE their class partners as a part of this program and the following ladies have been awesome about contributing and helping these guys to become better leaders -- WE THANK YOU, LADIES:  Maria Blackwell, Melanye Coleman, Kyla Crandell, Dawn DeGrushe, Diann Eilering, Judi Meredith, Deanna Plannett, Laura Rutherford, Katie Slater, Vangie Sponsler

The contest prize?

Reimbursement for Early Bird MMISL 2008 Event Pass
An Hour Private Fee with Female WCS Champion at MMISL 2008
Pro-Am Competition Fee with that same Champion
Jack & Jill Competition Fee

It's already changing the dance for these gentlemen … and here's a recent success story (email exchange between Maria and one of the contestants, who shall remain anonymous).  PLEASE FEEL FREE TO FORWARD.  I hope this story will encourage those that occasionally get frustrated and let them know it's worth all their time, effort, pain …. And love of the dance.
