Know a young person who wants to learn to
dance? Here's the Dance Thing Junior way:
Young Folks between the ages of 10 and 18
are welcome to "try out" whether or not they wish to add social and/or
competitive dancing to their list of accomplishments.
Although the primary focus of the Dance
Thing Juniors is West Coast Swing...they will also be instructed in a
variety of other dance forms such as East Coast Swing, Country Western
Two-Step, Nightclub Two-Step, Cha Cha, Hustle, Ballroom dances,
various motion studies/dance exercises, dance floor etiquette and social
courtesy in public/class venue...and the list goes on. AFTER the initial
four lessons have been completed, and the New Dancer has decided that
this is a sport they really wish to explore further, they will be
formally invited to become a Dance Thing Junior.
So, what does it mean when we place? There is a point system for
swing dancer's out there that keeps track of your placements (that is,
of course, you place 1st through 5th at a dance). Almost all of the
major dances that feature pro's are under the World Swing Council (check
if you are not sure). Listed below is a database that the World Swing
Council maintains. If your name doesn't show then you haven't placed.
